Khaki Campbell Ducklings

Val's ducklings 2006

Val had a surprise from our Khaki Campbell eggs last spring (2006). After losing ducks to the fox, we put the eggs we had left into the incubator and one was a yellow duckling, now a white female duck. We have some of her eggs in the incubator now, and are waiting to see what colour the ducklings will be.

Cayuga Ducks

We had a very good hatch of Cayuga drakes last year. Our only female

Cayuga got foxed. Her eggs we incubated had been crossed with the

Khaki Campbells (we thought those boys had been too young..... oops!)

..........so we are now waiting to see what we get when our batch of new Cayuga eggs

hatches towards the end of May (2007).

Sebastopol Geese

We have 2 pairs of Sebatopols, our original pair being more true to type than the 'new' pair, Eve and Ross. These geese lay an egg every other day for a fairly short season in the Spring, about 15 eggs in total, then sit on the nest. Dad guards the nest, woe betide a curious chicken, or (this year) a duck wanting to reclaim their duck house.

Some g oslings get adult feathering plain like Eve, some fluffy like our original pair,

and some completely frizzled.
