love the dark coloured eggs.

We have selected our ordinary Cuckoo Marans on egg colour

for several years now. We hatch only deepest conker coloured eggs.

 

We also have good egg colour from our

French Wheaton and Copper Blue/Black Marans.

 

The Spanish Penedesenca egg colour is not as dark as we expected, and not as dark as our Maran eggs. Nevertheless the eggs are a good size for the size of bird, and quite a good medium/deep brown.

 

Our Cuckoo Marans and Copper Marans are running ferlile at the moment,

but this has not, so far, been a good year

for Wheaton (Maran or Penedesenca) fertility.
